about geek strong
Geek Strong, an active cover band in the Denver music scene, invites a refreshing twist to Denver entertainment. Wanting to shed the "we're tough rock guys" persona that cover bands tend to live by, Geek Strong is about bringing people together with a purpose, a positive experience and to have fun. They play at Denver bars & clubs, outdoor events, corporate events, weddings and anywhere else you might want that has electricity.
They may have a name you haven't heard yet, but these guys are far from being new to this town. Once called "5 Hole", then "Slugworth", the original members of this band were strictly a hard rock cover band. As Slugworth, they performed at the Coors "Urban Chill" Party, at City Lights Pavilion at the Pepsi Center. The years also fueled them to write their own music, featuring a heavy original sound with an electronic influence – the perfect blend of rock with a great beat. Their original track, "Down Again" landed them in the top 6 bands in 106.7 KBPI's Best Band in Denver competition a few years ago. Soon after, that song was picked up for a compilation album, "Road Trip Rock, Vol. 1 & 2". Slugworth also opened for several national bands, including Warrant, Faster Pussycat, Enuff Z'nuff and Britney Fox.
When audiences see Geek Strong for the first time they are instantly intrigued by their creative stage antics, the high level of entertainment and the updated interpretations of existing hits. Aside from being extremely entertaining, they have built a clever brand identity around their name with unique marketing ideas and a movement that others want to be a part of.
